Paradoxical Disclaimer

Disclaimer: It’s not about you, it’s about me.

“I am not what I see when I stand in front of the mirror. I am not what you think; I am not what you see. I am not what you believe me to be. ” – JD

There are days I don’t wanna sleep. I just want to exhaust my playlist and watch movies till I die. Then, there are days I can’t sleep, not because I don’t want to but I just can’t. All sorts of unanswerable questions pop up in my mind. I think, it’s one of those nights. This time, it’s not the GOD or the universe who is keeping me awake; it’s me, who am I?

I am JD. No! That’s just my name. I go by that, people call me by that. It’s just a label to identify me. JD is not me. I am tall, dark, handsome, cool, intellectual, generous, upright, rich and single (it’s my goddamn post and I have the liberty to write 😛 ). But these are just my attributes. It’s not me.

I am a son, a brother, a friend, a lover (ahem, yeah, I love my Motorcycle). I play many roles in my life and I have many more to play. Some day, I will be a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather (okay, I think I have reached the (E)nd of (T)hinking (C)apacity)

I am an Indian. It’s where I live, prosper and grow. Like every other Indian. I am tagged to a religion but I didn’t choose it. I was born with it. I work for an American corporation as a software engineer, but that’s my job. That’s not me.

I am made of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether. I see, I feel, I hear, I smell, I touch, I taste. I evolved out of an ape. I am a homo sapien (for few ignorant ones, not homosexual, both are very different things). But there are many human beings on this planet earth. I am just another man; one of them. But that’s not who I am.

Then who the “F” am I?

I am everything and everything is a part of me

Do I sound like Morgan Freeman of Bruce Almighty?

I am what I hate

I am what I like

I am the shadow in the light

I am the way I walk

I am how I talk

I am what I wear

I am with whom I sleep

I ‘m my character

I’m my attitude

I’m my experiences

I’m my deeds, I’m my thoughts, I’m my words, I’m what I feel;

I have more to me than meets the eye

Let me reassure you, I am not out of my mind

I can count to 10 and I can walk in a straight line.

P.S. Who am I? I don’t give a damn 😀

  1. I was laughing having a chuckle reading the beginning of the post, both at your description of how you are this tal, dark and handsome and then on the explanation of Homo sapian. Your mixture of humour and serious nature of the post really makes want to read more.

      1. ha ha , i will take your word for it. Make a pit stop at some of my blogs, you may find a few words of wisdom, you might like my take on God and religion as well. Sorry my site is very cluttered due to my tech skills or the lack of it. My son has promised to take a look during his holidays. But until then you will have to scroll down to the bottom “the dreaded C word” is a good start

  2. Awesome post. Loved it. I guess all of us ask that question at one point (some, every day). I loved the ending. Hopeless to try to grasp who we are with thoughts and words.

  3. After going through who ‘u’ r , and after realizing who ‘u’ r , I was dragged into the world of ‘confusion’ spell trying to forget my existence only to remember the Philosopher ‘Confucius’

Thank you so much for this lovely article and sharing your thoughts with all of us.

  5. I loved this post! I read it several times, actually felt it. Since my initials are also JD,, and since the first line is something I say to myself every day, I had to re-read the disclaimer, as I at first wondered if I had written this in a state of sub-consciousness. Excellent way of answering the question “who am I”. Thank you for sharing this!

  6. Isn’t that the whole point of our lives? Learning what we really are and what is the reason for our being here, apart from procreation and that.
Great thoughtful post, and funny too (that description was cool. 😛 )

  7. If I were younger (and knew where you lived) you be my puppy now! On the many nights neither of us could sleep, we’d stay up all night together – blogging, no doubt. 🙂 GREAT post – I’m inspired to find one of mine to link here.

PS. I just pinned your WORDS post to my Blogs and Bloggers Board

  8. You remind me of JD from scrubs, walking around in the big world and trying to find yourself.
Nonetheless, I like this post – it makes me think who I am really…

  9. I dont know if that was the intention or not….but I found it funny…..actually all your posts are funny….you’re yourself a funny man….this comment may seem to be confusingly funny as that’s a desirable comment on a funny man’s funny post and pardon me if I went overboard 😀 😀

      1. Let’s not ruin the essence of your post with a trail of stupid comments…here I leave the space blank for other fellow readers! Goodluck JD :))

    1. Hey Harshi 🙂 Thank you. I have no clue, I have to think about it. I feel like I screwed up part 2 😀 So, I am not sure, I think I will wait and see if I get a good plot
